Starting the New Year’s out as a kid again

Tugon started the year with a blast in celebrating the first PARTy last January 9, 2012 at SocSci Conference Rooms 3 & 4.
Around twenty Tugon members had a great time reliving fond childhood memories with the Willy Wonka theme.
Kari Lim, the project head, prepared three activities, starting with a funny Chubby Bunny Pass the Message: one person in a group had to relay a secret sentence while their mouths were stuffed with marshmallows, and the competing groups had to make sure the last receiver can repeat the exact sentence.
A wacky Oompa Loompa Dancing game followed, where members each had a chance to groove and make the best dance possible to a preselected song.
The party culminated with food and a meaningful cupcake decorating activity meant to remind them about their memorable experiences as a Tugoner.
“I wanted activities that were fun yet different so it isn’t predictable,”Kari said. “I wanted something that would interest people into playing and allow people to bond.”
At the end of the party, Kari believed that she was able to accomplish that, despite admitting that not many people attended the session.
“I’d like to believe that people did enjoy it. Wish more could have attended but it’s okay. I’m glad that many people came at all…I had fun and I hope everyone else did also.”
If you’ve ever wondered what happens to the babies in area once they’re adopted, or if you ever wondered how to adopt the cutest babies yourself…then you definitely can’t miss this! :>

Second wind for Project Management Training
By JB Gamboa

Last November 25, Tugon HROD committee set up another Project Management Training session, this time specifically inviting this semester’s project heads.
The event, obviously, aims to train people on how to manage project and how to make a project successful. Tugon had the same event last semester, but this training session differs from last semester’s by incorporating evaluations of projects done previously in Tugon. This session was not simply an orientation as it focused more on studying past projects.
The Tugon Executive Board decided that project heads have to see these evaluations for themselves as well for them to be able to assess projects and learn from past project heads. HROD head Em Zarate notes that the session was successful.
“The upcoming project heads were able to learn a thing or two from the event, especially ‘tips and tricks’ on handling projects,” Em told DocPub.
HROD head Em and Joyce Raboca posed questions for those who attended, giving them project-related problems to be solved.
The forum started slow as the project heads were hesitant to speak up. After a few questions, the project heads gained the confidence they needed and managed to end their sentences with periods instead of question marks.
The training session tackled the common mistakes of past project heads, how to handle mistakes, and the reminder that the officers are always willing to help out.
As this session is especially applicable to current project heads, Em Zarate expressed regret that not all project heads were able to attend, although he said the turnout of this session was better than last semester’s as this session had more actual project heads, rather than just aspiring heads.
Despite the slow start and incomplete attendance, Joyce Raboca was positive about the session.
“I feel that it was good because the project heads went and took it seriously. They actively paid attention to the case studies,” Joyce said.
